Genotypic variability studies and identification of pre-harvest sprouting tolerant wild Vigna

چکیده
Seed dormancy is the main component of domesticated traits, loss which results into rapid and uniform germination, synchronous maturity ease in harvesting. However, breakdown or fresh seed (FSD) has made seeds vulnerable to pre-harvest sprouting (PHS). Though, Vigna species are protected by pod, these still susceptible PHS. Identification donor(s) having short duration FSD (30-45 days) become utmost important transfer trait high yielding varieties. The wild progenitors relatives cultivated offer a source several useful traits; therefore, experiment was initiated understand level variation PHS germination (FSG) accessions species. FSG among 59 ranged between 0-100%, with mean 55.86% 61.19%, respectively. Five (IC276983, IC349701, Trichy Local 1, LRM/13-33 LRM/13-26) trilobata one accession (IC251440) sublobata recorded no pod due 0% (2.5% V. sublobata). size showed positive association PHS, where smaller (100-SW <1 g) comparably low (30.82%) than bold (69.06 62.94% 100-SW 1-2 g > 2 g, respectively). identified, especially (crossing compatible) could be used as tolerance species, particularly mungbean urdbean.

متن کاملpostnatal studies of bats (pipistrellus kuhlii and miniopterus schreibersii) & histomorphology and histochemistry studies of organs and diseases of (neurergus microspilotus and n. kaiseri)
1. to determine whether difference in birth body mass influenced growth performance in pipistrellus kuhlii we studied a total of 12 captive-born neonates. bats were assigned to two body mass groups: light birth body mass (lbw: 0.89 ± 0.05, n=8) and heavy birth body mass (hbw: 1.35 ± 0.08, n=4). heavier body mass at birth was associated with rapid postnatal growth (body mass and forearm length) ...
Assessing genotypic variability of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata [L.] Walp.) to current and projected ultraviolet-B radiation.
The current and projected terrestrial ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation affects growth and reproductive potential of many crops. Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata [L.] Walp.), mostly grown in tropical and sub-tropical regions may already be experiencing critical doses of UV-B radiation due to a thinner ozone column in those regions. Better understanding of genotypic variability to UV-B radiation is a prer...
متن کاملReprogramming of Seed Metabolism Facilitates Pre-harvest Sprouting Resistance of Wheat
Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) is a worldwide problem for wheat production and transgene antisense-thioredoxin-s (anti-trx-s) facilitates outstanding resistance. To understand the molecular details of PHS resistance, we analyzed the metabonomes of the transgenic and wild-type (control) wheat seeds at various stages using NMR and GC-FID/MS. 60 metabolites were dominant in these seeds including suga...
متن کاملEffect of Pre-Harvest Sprouting on Physicochemical Properties of Starch in Wheat
Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) occurs when physiologically mature kernels begin germinating in the spike. The objective of this study was to provide fundamental information on physicochemical changes of starch due to PHS in Hard Red Spring (HRS) and Hard White Spring (HWS) wheat. The mean values of α-amylase activity of non-sprouted and sprouted wheat samples were 0...
